Melanie is the Elementary Writing and Social Studies Coordinator in Simsbury, CT. Passionate about developing and empowering young writers, she has written three professional books with Corwin Press: Every Child Can Write: Entry Points, Bridges and Pathways for Striving Writers, The Responsive Writing Teacher: A Hands-on Guide to Child-Centered, Equitable Instruction  with Kelsey Sorum, and Answers to Your Biggest Questions About Teaching Elementary Writing (Corwin Press, 2022).

Stacey is a literacy consultant specializing in K-6 writing workshop and a former elementary school teacher. She is the author of Craft Moves (Stenhouse, 2016) and co-author of several other professional books, including Welcome to Writing Workshop (Stenhouse, 2019). Her newest book, Make the School System Work for Your Child with Disabilities (Guilford Press, 2026), empowers parents to navigate the special education system.
